Chown Hardware

Founded in Portland, Oregon, on September 15, 1879 by F.R. Chown, Chown is the oldest family-owned hardware company in North America.

For nearly 150 years, we have partnered with architects, contractors, and facility and project managers in the Pacific Northwest to beautify, outfit, and secure the built environment—from door fixtures and frames to advanced security features.

Our commercial and residential divisions are intent on presenting, selling, and supporting the finest products available.

From our humble beginnings selling the first hunting and fishing licenses in the State of Oregon to where we are today, Chown has guided five generations to create comfortable and secure spaces for homes and workplaces all over the Pacific Northwest.
